The state of Massachusetts just began an amnesty program that helps all tax delinquent individuals and businesses to catch up on back taxes and save on penalties. The Department of Revenue (DOR) announced on its website that the amnesty program is available for the following taxpayers:
- Any individual or business who has not currently registered with the DOR, or filed a tax return,
- Not reported the full amount of tax owed on a previously filed return for any tax return due on or before December 31, 2015.
These taxpayers will be able to file delinquent returns or amend prior tax filings and pay only the tax and interest owed. Tax penalties and any interest due on those penalties will be waived.
